Emre for Rating: I purchased this pokect knife at a mediocre price. My expectation was high assuming that I was getting a Swiss knife. But after a couple weeks, my expectation grew into disappointment. The first problem was the blades that were very difficult to pull out. Due to this, I turned my left hand thumbnail backwards, which caused a lot of pain, lasting for 2 weeks until it healed. The second issue was the outer plastic cover that got damaged from day one. After two months, the plastic cover on both sides look like the knife was used for 10 years; scratched up and damaged. Note that I am not a heavy user and work at office environment. The third issue was the weight of this knife. Despite of having various blades, this knife is too heavy to carry around. I see that as a design flaw. The last straw that broke the back of the camel was the harassment I got from this company. Since they had my email address, they started sending SPAM. I ignored it initially, but SPAM kept coming in. I politely asked to be removed from their mailing list (3 times), but they still continue to SPAM as of this day.Bottom line, this pokect knife is not so good, plus this company is in the business of SPAMing.

Marina

You have really interesting blog, keep up posting such informative posts!

Stepan

Great photos! The HDR contains much darker and much lighter tones than could be displayed on a computer screen, so you tonemap it to say "That bit of sunny sky will be shown as pure white" etc... I use Photomatix.

fx

Laura, Switzerland too lost many industries and we don"t have a lot more left than the US. In those days, I"d rather produce cutting edge silicon chips in California or the sharpest knives on earth in Switzerland than be in the business of melting steel or weaving cotton. We have a healthy economy despite the loss of most manufactures.

Laura C

It"s such a shame that the US can"t seem to hold on to it"s manufacturing.
I was going to plan a trip to Paris in 09, but now I think I"m going to try to include Switzerland in the plans.
You really inspire me.

Eric

...by the way, is that tone mapping or HDR on the top photo?
